to traditional steel tools. Select the right material grade & you can get hundreds of thousands of mouldings for little more than two thirds of the cost of steel. It is also much faster to machine, cutting design-to-production time. |

costs ever increasing, Toolcraft offer fast production of low
cost alloy mould tools Originally for its own fast plastic mouldings
facility, tool production is now available to others. By correct
choice of materials, alloy mould
tools can produce  hundreds
of thousands of parts & are about 30% cheaper than in steel.Easier & faster to machine, delivery times are typically halved & as aluminium conducts heat 4 times better than steel, tools run cooler & so, can be run faster, resulting in lower cost parts. Polishing is easier if a high grade finish is needed. Areas of stress can be predicted and, if necessary, strengthened with steel inserts. For greater life at a cost of 10-15%, tools can be nickel cobalt coated to Rockwell 55. Using CAD/CAM, Toolcraft can design using customers' own CAD files/part drawings |

10 days Tiny plastic mouldings like this are the result of work carried on behalf of an overseas client by Swindon based Toolcraft Plastics. The set of tools, each of which could be balanced on a pinhead, was developed for volume production, and with trial machines on hand, the Toolcraft team was able to achieve high volume from all the tools within ten days. |
